The Mid-West Machine™ Rounds Rotator car is designed to handle rounds up to 45 in (1,143mm) diameter, in lengths to 250 in (6,350mm) and weights up to 50,000 lbs (22,650 kgs). Cars are generally driven with a two cable system using a high horsepower motor and Vector drive allowing speeds from 4 inches per minute to 200 feet per minute. Cars can also be axel driven using a vector drive and car mounted gear box where space is restricted.
The Mid-West Machine rounds rotator is designed to rotate round, straight product during grinding for “Spiral Grinding” or hold it stationary for longitudinal or spot grinding.
The rotator consists of a heavy welded steel frame assembly equipped with two (2) line shafts mounted in heavy duty pillow blocks. These are split style bearings for ease of maintenance. Each shaft is fitted with hardened, split steel wheels that are keyed and fastened to the shaft.
The two (2) rotator shafts are connected through a chain drive at the ends to provide rotational power to all of the rotator wheels. The wheels are spaced approximately 18 in (457mm) apart to provide support for the product being ground.
